Yesterday, I created this piece which I was hoping to use as the cover of the program for my mother's services. Her services are this Saturday. The photo is of Mom as a twenty-something, right before she and Dad met. Almost all of today was spent creating the program/brochure. My younger brother, Michael, came by and spent a good chunk of the day at my place. We put the program together and once I had completed a first draft, I decided to go back to a more conservative cover (translated: something simple with just the photo of Mom, not the enhanced, colorful version above). I told Michael and Mike (my husband) I don't want to offend her family... an "interesting" group of folks! Anyway, my brother is now the owner of this painting. I think he is the best suited person in the family to have it.

Thanks, Kelly! It is the first time I have made any art in weeks. Nothing was happening for weeks. And then, a couple of nights ago, I started this piece, and it just all came together in a few hours. My mom was a big supporter of my artwork, so this was easy to do.

I just discovered your blog, and I am so sorry about the loss of your mom. I think this is a beautiful tribute, so full of love and respect. As a mother myself, I know that your mother would love it and be ao touched that you created it to honor her.

My heart goes out to you,
Alberta

Claudia,
Let me know how you are doing. Thank you so much for the kind words. It's been hard to get back into the swing of things after all the craziness surrounding my mother's illness and passing. I would LOVE to get together soon!
Love,
Roseann

Alberta and Alva,
Thank you for your kind words. My mother was a very beautiful woman so this piece just came together very easily. I wanted something that really captured her spirit! Anyway, I also wanted to let you know that I got an opportunity to see your 2 blogs. They are terrific! And it is great to find fellow teachers/artists who share the same interests as me.
